Cafe Manager - Cultivating Connections One Cup at a Time

About Us:

We are an independent, community-oriented cafe in Mt Claremont seeking a seasoned and passionate professional to lead our team. We cultivate a welcoming atmosphere where guests feel comfortable, valued, and connected. We are dedicated to serving high-quality coffee and creating a space that fosters genuine interactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead with "Old-School" Charm: You'll embody the spirit of genuine hospitality, ensuring every customer receives personalized attention and friendly service. Think remembering names, offering genuine smiles, and fostering positive interactions.

  • Operational Excellence: You'll oversee all aspects of cafe operations, working closely with the head chef including scheduling, staff training, ensuring food and beverage quality, and maintaining a clean and inviting environment. 

  • Coffee Connoisseur: You'll possess a deep understanding and appreciation for coffee, ensuring consistent brewing, menu development, and maintaining positive relationships with our coffee suppliers.

  • Team Leadership: You'll be a supportive and empowering leader, fostering a positive work environment, motivating staff, and providing training and development opportunities.

  • Financial Accountability: You will have targets to hit cafe budgets, track sales and expenses, and ensure profitability. The book keeper does the nitty gritty.

  • Safety and Compliance: You'll ensure the cafe adheres to all health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in cafe management or a senior role. You may be ready to step up to manage

  • Proven track record of success in exceeding customer service expectations.

  • Strong understanding of coffee preparation methods and trends.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize responsibilities.

  • Strong financial literacy and attention to detail.

Bonus points if you possess:

  • A genuine passion for hospitality and building relationships.

  • Experience in inventory management and scheduling.

  • Proficiency in relevant cafe management software.
